Sylvia Acevedo, CEO of Girl Scouts USA, won the prestigious National GEM Consortium Fellowship, which enabled her to pursue her Master’s of Science degree in systems engineering from Stanford University. One of the first Hispanic students to earn that degree, she went on to work at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where she was involved in Voyager 2’s flyby of Jupiter. She later worked as an IT executive at Apple and Dell prior to joining the Girl Scouts. She is presently creating a variety of STEM programming for GSUSA. Read full article.
